I can’t remember the last time the ‘Hawks looked that good and lost. They’ve played much, much worse and won games I never would have expected they could. One might believe it to be a mystery.
Well, not quite. The Blackhawks outshot the Sharks 47-14 in last night’s 3-2 loss, but special teams sucked in every facet of the game and the Blackhawks’ shots, while staggering in number, were rather weak in comparison to San Jose’s.
The ‘Hawks were once again dogshit on the power play, going 0-for-7, and they allowed a short-handed goal to Joe Thornton off an errant pass Kris Versteeg [...]

There are few things more satisfying than sitting in the United Center and hearing “Detroit sucks!” chants when they’re actually justified. The Communists DID indeed suck tonight, and the Blackhawks put together a great victory against a team depleted by injury.
But while beating the Red Wings is always sweet, this game was no statement against a Western Conference power. It was a win against an inferior team, a game the ‘Hawks had much more to lose than to gain. Thankfully, the ‘Hawks earned the expected two points.
When the rash of injuries subside, the Communists are sure to want to prove [...]
Chris Kuc is reporting Antti Niemi will get the start in net and defensman Niklas Hjalmarsson will sit tonight against the Boston Bruins.
Coach Q said the start for Niemi is to help balance the load with Cristobal Huet as the Blackhawks will face Detroit and Nashville twice with San Jose tossed in there over the next week and a half. As much as I think Huet will always be the No. 1, there’s never a problem giving a start to a backup who is 6-1-1 on the season with three shutouts. Yeah, that’s pretty good.
Hjalmarsson is “under the weather,” according [...]
Sorry for the delay with this recap. I celebrated my birthday with a few — OK, a lot of — beers and the ensuing hangover had me in bed well into the afternoon. But, I digress.
I’d like to begin by mentioning how much I hate Barret Jackman. Of the few — OK, a lot of — people I’d like to see tared and feathered, he’s one I’m actually really seriously considering going out of my way for to make it happen. Once again, I digress.
Cristobal Huet was so happy he was able to get a picture with me at the [...]
It’s pretty amazing to know that — barring ridiculous setbacks and unforeseen player movement — the Blackhawks will have Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa playing together for at least the next five-plus seasons. In honor of these ridiculously talented superstars, here is their highlight reel of 2009 to date.
How in living hell Kaner snuck this past Backstrom is behind me. He had the diameter of an asshole to fit the puck through:
Toews seems to have one of these goals every season, but the way he’s been playing and the puck control and vision he possesses makes me believe [...]
