CHICAGO >>> LAS VEGAS: Blackhawks 6, Flyers 5

AUTHOR: | IN: Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Note: While I am currently in the Cesaer’s sportsbook in Las Vegas either sulking or celebrating with a beer in hand, Forklift of HOCKEENIGHT will be bringing you the recap of tonight’s Game 1. I’m sure it will be short-guy jokes aplenty, so enjoy the wit and informative humor from The Oldest Man of the Blackhawks Blogsphere. By Forklift First of all, I’d like to thank Bartl for making me feel like a big man. Not that I feel important by guesting here, just whenever I stand next to him, I feel like fucking Gulliver walking through Liliput. How do [...]

One more day…

AUTHOR: | IN: Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Start painting your faces, ‘Hawks fans — it’s nearly time. This going to be very brief today, as I’m getting ready to hop a flight to Vegas in a few hours to celebrate the bachelor party of former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Matt Ulrich. I won’t be sober. If you’re anything like me, you’ve read and listened to everything possible regarding the Stanley Cup Final. The Blackhawks are heavy favorites, the Flyers don’t care and we’re all going to be in for a treat when the puck drops on this series. As I step away from the site for a [...]

Stanley Cup roundtable

AUTHOR: | IN: Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Once again, the sometimes great and more often idiotic minds of the Blackhawks blogsphere gather to discuss the upcoming Stanley Cup Final. Sam Fels of Second City Hockey provided the Q and asked the Fifth Feather, The Third Man In and yours truly to provide the A. However, it seems as if Block has fallen off the Earth, so it’s the three of us this time. Enjoy. Who is your player of the series against San Jose? Second City Hockey: Well everyone expects me to say Dave Bolland, being my guy and all.  But this is easy, and it’s Antti [...]

Looking back: Chicago Blackhawks, 1991-92 Campbell Conference Champs

AUTHOR: | IN: Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Saturday marks the end of an 18-year wait for Blackhawks fans to witness their team compete for a Stanley Cup as the ‘Hawks face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers. I’m not sure of the exact number, but I’m assuming after reading that sentence the amount of erections and spontaneous orgasms amongst ‘Hawks fans just doubled. Hopefully we’ll get a better result than the last time the Blackhawks battled a team from Pennsylvania for hockey’s ultimate prize. In the 1992 Final, the Mario Lemieux-led Pittsburgh Penguins swept the Blackhawks right out of the NHL’s 75th Anniversary season to claim their second straight [...]

March 13 was a hell of a preview: Blackhawks, Flyers set for Cup Final

AUTHOR: | IN: Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Talk amongst Vegas odds makers suggests the Blackhawks stand to be one of the most overwhelming favorites for a championship game/series in major sports history, joining the likes of the ’85 Chicago Bears and ’94 San Francisco 49ers. Well, forget that shit. To think the Philadelphia Flyers will be pushovers is blatant ignorance. Any team left for dead down 0-3 in a playoff series which comes back to shock the hockey world is a legit contender. And oddly enough, the Flyers have their own comeback story against the Blackhawks. After two scoreless periods of a March 13 matinee in Philadelphia, [...]
