Tonight is the 5th meeting between the Blackhawks and the St Louis Blues. The Blues are 9-1-0 in their last ten games and lead the entire NHL 97 points. Yes, the Blues are the best team in hockey right now. These two old rivals know what to expect from each especially since they met in St Louis one week ago. The Blues dominated that game, bringing home a 5-1 victory. Jaroslav Halak will look for his 3rd win against the Blackhawks this season, and his 9th straight win overall, as he gets the start in net tonight. He has given up just one goal in 2 starts versus the Hawks this year. Both of those starts where at home, tonight will be his first appearance in the United Center.
The Blachawks will be without Jonathan Toews yet again. He did not skate with the team this morning. Injured defenseman Steve Montador did participate in the morning skate so he could be nearing a return. Ray Emery will get the start again in net for the Blackhawks despite a poor showing last week against the Blues. The lines remained the same from what we saw Sunday night versus the Kings. The Blues will not do anything to try and surprise the Blackhawks. The boys in red better be ready for a 60 minute fight and have theirs heads on a swivel. This is a very tough matchup for the Hawks, but they have beaten the Blues twice at home already this year. Hopefully the trend of the home team winning keeps up for one more game.
