Tonight marks the only regular season meeting between the Blackhawks and the New Jersey Devils.  Both teams come into tonight as the 6th seed in their respective conferences.  The Devils have been struggling of late with only one regulation win in it’s last 5 games.  The Devils still have the luxury of one of the greatest goaltenders to ever suit up in Martin Brodeur, who gets the start in net tonight.  Brodeur has put up decent numbers after some early season struggles and injuries.  He is 26-21-4 with a 2.49 goals against average and a .904 save % in 54 games this season.  We also get to see former team mates Marian Hossa (74 pts) and Ilya Kovalchuk (75 pts), who lead their teams in scoring, go at it tonight.  My Lord, how did a team with both Hossa and Kovalchuk never win a single playoff game?  The Devils boast the best PK unit in all of hockey as they have killed off nearly 90% of all their penalties.  They should have no problem containing the “attack” of the Blackhawks clown shoes power play.  With that being said watch the Hawks score 3 power play goals.

The Blackhawks are getting a little healthier tonight despite Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith still out of the lineup.  As I mentioned yesterday Marcus Kruger will return to the ice tonight after missing Sunday’s game against Nashville.  It looks like Steve Montador will make his comeback after missing the last 22 games.  Look for Sean O’Donnell to be moved back to the pressbox.  Corey Crawford gets the start in net as he hopes to rebound from another poor showing versus the Predators.  Crow could be catching New Jersey at the right time as they have been held to 2 or less goals in 6 out of their last 7 games.  This will be a tough road test for the Blackhawks, but this is a very winnable game.
