Marian Hossa was the best member of the Chicago Blackhawks this past season.  He had his best year as a Blackhawk since signing in the summer of 2009.  The biggest factor for this was that, for the first time in Chicago, Hossa was healthy.  He played in 81 games this year which is great considering he missed a combined 42 games the previous two seasons in Chicago.  He lead the team in assists, points, and power play goals.  Much of Hossa’s game goes beyond what shows up on the score sheet.  Hossa is a great two way player and plays a strong defensive game.  He might be the hardest player in the league to take the puck away from.  Next time you are at a Hawks game in person, do yourself a favor and watch Hossa when he doesn’t have the puck.  He does so much more for this than just score goals.  And to think, some meatballs were upset when we signed Hossa over Martin Havlat!  I will be hard for me to erase the memory of Marian laying on the ice after the cheap shot he was given by the gutless wonder, Raffi Torres, in Game 3 of the playoffs.  That hit ended Hossa’s season and I am hopeful he can make a full recovery and be the player he was in 2011-2012 once again.

2011-2012 Final Grade: A

Topics: Chicago Blackhawks, Marian Hossa, Martin Havlat, Raffi Torres
