The Chicago Blackhawks announced they re-signed more of their own this morning, and they officially announced the release on waivers of Alexander Salak.
Bollig gave himself a fighters chance at the NHL level at the end of last season, and he collected his first goal in Game 2 in the Phoenix Coyote series. The first year of the contract is a two-way deal while the 2nd season is one way. Bollig is the only enforcer type on the roster so where he starts next season could be Rockford or Chicago.
Ben Smith had a injury filled season and will most likely start his season in Rockford. His star may never get higher than when he scored the Game 6 OT winner against the Vancouver Canucks in 2011.
Carter Hutton had a very good season in Rockford last year and totally outplayed the departed Salak going 22-13 with 2.35 Goals Against Average and a .917 save% . The Hawks just for depth sake needed to sign Hutton, and the way goalie position is sometimes, that some mature later, maybe Hutton’s play can continue to improve right onto an NHL roster spot. With Corey Crawford and Ray Emery signed it seems unlikely without injury that Hutton will make it to Chicago next season though.
Draft week is heating up!
LET’S GO HAWKS!!
