An extremely fast start led to another Hawks win as they extended their own record to 20 games to start the season without a regulation loss. It only took 12 seconds for Jonathon Toews to collect his 8th goal of the season and let the Hawks jump on the St Louis Blues quickly Thursday night. If you missed the opening goal it would be a very long time until you would get to see another goal scored in the contest.
Corey Crawford got the start and stopped all 6 shots he faced in the first period but was injured as time was expiring in the first period. Ray Emery took over for Crawford and stopped all 15 shots he faced in the 2nd and third periods as the Hawks chalked up their third shut out of the season. The injury was undisclosed about Crawford so thankfully the Hawks are getting just a high a level of play out of Emery as Crawford behind the net. The shut out was preserved a couple of times by a very friendly road post as a couple of shot could be heard throughout the rink hitting the post.
Bryan Bickell found the puck behind the net and then found Andrew Shaw out in front for the Hawks 2nd goal of the night early in the third period. Shaw and Bickell sure seem to have a quite a bit of chemistry brewing lately. Three and a half minutes later Toews put the icing on the cake for the Hawks victory when he muscled in a rebound off of a Nick Leddy shot to give the Hawks a 3-0 comfortable lead.
Two goals by Toews another shut out, the streak at 20….What more could you ask for? The Hawks head home tomorrow for a rematch against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center!
