It’s just the preseason so no reason to get to worked up about day-to-day injuries just yet, but it appears that Marian Hossa will be missing the entire preseason. Hossa was on the morning roster sheet and was expected to dress and play tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
When Hossa didn’t skate this morning it was apparent that something was not right with #81 and after the skate there were these tweets from the Blackhawks beat writers.
#Blackhawks‘ Marian Hossa has upper-body injury and won’t play in next 4 exhibition games. Team believes he’ll be ready for season opener.

Marian Hossa out next few preseason games (upper body). Likely to play last preseason game, should be fine for season opener. #Blackhawks

Yes, I am by no way even close to a world-class athlete, but you have to worry about Hossa’s age (34) and NHL game total (1,018) when injuries are re-aggravated and that he was hurt most of the playoffs. A 100% healthy Hossa is what the Hawks need so if he misses a few games to start the season it shouldn’t be a big deal rather than the continued possibility of aggravation.
-Also on the injury front Brandon Pirri couldn’t complete the pre-game skate which has to be hurting his chances to start the season with the Hawks even though the way Stan Bowman talked about him all offseason you would have thought he was one of the young kid locks heading to October 1st!
Get Well Soon #81!
