The engraver is finally complete with this years masterpiece! The Blackhawks have showcased the newest edition to the Stanley Cup with the names of the 2012-2013 Stanley Cup Champions Chicago Blackhawks.
There are two surprises to the Cup that had to be petitioned by the Blackhawks. Jamal Mayers got his name on the Stanley Cup and rightfully so. He was almost a player/coach and by all accounts was the voice inside the locker room that was the loudest after the Hawks fell behind the Red Wings 3-1 and notoriously shot pucks at Jimmy Howard before Game #5.
The other player that didn’t meet the requirements was Daniel Carcillo, but the Hawks successfully had Carcillo’s name added to the Cup.
Ben Smith appeared in only one game during the entire playoffs, but dressing for Marian Hossa in Game #3 when Hossa was a late scratch earned him and his name a place in history.
Anytime anyone mentions the 2013 Stanley Cup champs almost everyone’s thought besides being down 3-1 to Detroit has to be the 17 seconds in Game #6 against the Boston Bruins, so for the last time here is the beautiful footage of the best 17 seconds in Hawks history.
Congrats to all the Blackhawks on getting their names on the Stanley Cup forever, and thanks for all the great memories!
