The Chicago Blackhawks raised their 5th Stanley Cup Banner to the rafters of their current home the United Center tonight. The 2013 Stanley Cup banner is the 2nd in four years and now hangs next to the 1934,1938,1961,and 2010 Stanley Cup Banners.
The 2010 Stanley Cup was a great run that ended 49 years of suffering for Blackhawks fans and the organization. It was sealed with a strange goal that almost no one saw go in the back of the net when it happened.
The 2013 Stanley Cup was a celebration of one of the greatest seasons in Stanley Cup history. The Blackhawks started out red-hot going 24 games without a regulation loss, the season included a Divisional Title and President’s Trophy. The regular season extended to one of the most exciting Stanley Cup playoff runs in memory which included a comeback in a series against our biggest rival down 3-1, and it ended with one of the wildest 17 seconds in Chicago sports history.
With that great season in the books, here is how it looked as the 2013 Stanley Cup was raised to the rafters.
