Marian Hossa had a huge week for the Blackhawks, and he is rewarded with this week’s Second Star. Hossa notched his second and third goals of the season this week, and added an assist, bringing his point total for the last seven days to three. Hossa’s game wasn’t only noticeable on the score sheet, however, as he was back to regular form, doing all the little things that bolster Chicago’s offense. He led the team in the last three games with 16 shots, was a +3, and his puck protection skills were on-point. Hossa has become a sort of secret weapon for Chicago, now that focus has mainly shifted to the likes of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, although he is still among the elite forwards in his age group. With Hossa still playing big minutes on the second line, it is encouraging to see him get his season going well early.
