3. Terry Sawchuk
I believe this picture sums it up best. Another Red Wing on this list, but does that really come as a surprise? We have to delve deep into NHL past to really recognize the intimidating presence that Sawchuk brought to the ice. He was one of the first goaltenders to have an adventurous side, as he was well known for diving out to pucks and not shying away from contact with skaters. Sawchuk is also famous for his 103 shutouts, which was a record until broken by Patrick Roy a few years ago. Opposing players knew that when they were going up against the best when facing Sawchuk, and his innovative style of play brought a more frightening level to his competitors.
