The Blackhawks scored 14 goals last week on their way to recording a 3-0 week. The schedule gets a lot tougher this week with some of the best teams in the Western Conference as opponents this week for the Hawks after they get done with 3 straight days off.
The Blackhawks kick off the week on Thursday at the United Center with the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes at one point looked like they were heading to Seattle until a last second vote kept them in Arizona. The result has been a very good start for the Coyotes with their record currently at 12-4-2 which is good for 2nd place in the Pacific Division. The start has been propelled by their goalie Mike Smith’s play in the net, but he also became the 11th goalie to ever score a goal.
On Saturday the biggest controversy of the offseason will rear its ugly head in Nashville when the Blackhawks visit on the first night of Keep out the Red night. The Predators lost their starting goalie Pekka Rinne for an extended period of time, but former Chicago Blackhawk Carter Hutton has been up to the task so far while taking over. The Florida Panthers may be shaking their heads for a long time for passing on Seth Jones, and Saturday night will be the first time the Hawks get to see the New look Predators.
On Sunday night the Hawks head back to the United Center for the third straight weekend of back-to-back games with their opponent the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks have cooled off since their almost unbelievable hot start. The Sharks entering the week are 1-1-3 in their last 5 games and although the usual suspects are leading the team, the player most people at the United Center will be excited to see is hot shot rookie Tomas Hertl. He like the team has slowed down but he still has 10 goals and 6 assists on the season and oh by the way the goal of the year.
Which game are you most excited about this week? What do you think the Hawks record will be this week?
