SAVE OF THE NIGHT!

Antti Raanta has come up with some nice saves since he has stepped up as the temporary starter for the Blackhawks.  The Hawks gave the Flyers a short handed breakaway, but luckily Raanta out-dueled Brayden Shenn with a lunging glove save.  You’re doing great kid.

Duncan Keith scores his second goal of the season on the power play last night.  The amazing thing is that he has 28 points so far, but only 2 of which are goals!  The other player to point out on this play is Shaw.  Once again, Andrew Shaw is the world’s most effective screen in spite of his size.

I guess Shaw wanted to show the Blackhawks that he isn’t solely useful as a screen (magic shin pads be damned!).  Shaw gets Meszaros to leave the front of the net and chase him as he wraps the puck around the post and Emery.

SHG – Michal Handzus (3) Tip-in – ASST: Marcus Kruger (11). GIF by Joe Kremel of BlackhawkUp.com feed from NBC and the NHL

3-1  –  SHG – Michal Handzus (3) Tip-in – ASST: Marcus Kruger (11)

I don’t know where to begin with this goal.  First, Handzus made Voracek (I think?) look like he was skating through quicksand… let that sink in.  Second, Kruger either is a genius for exploiting Emery’s poor lateral movement or extremely lucky.  Either way, this was a great play by Blackhawks, and an extremely poor play by the Flyers.

Continue on for goals from Versteeg, Toews, Seabrook, and Sharp.
