Welcome to Week Fourteen of Blackhawk Up’s 2013-14 Three Stars of the Week. As the title says, we will count down the top three performers in the Chicago Blackhawks’ lineup over the past seven days, and analyze their contribution to the team. These players don’t have to be the guys with the most points, or ice time, but the players that really stepped up their game, and made a positive impact.

The Chicago Blackhawks started off 2014 with a point in all three games in Week 14.  The Blackhawks took a single point out of Long Island in an overtime loss, and the next night, took care of the New Jersey Devils 5-3. They ended off Week 14 with a shootout loss against the San Jose Sharks, in one of the most exciting games this season.

It was about time that Brent Seabrook started putting up the points, after the spotlight on the Blackhawks’ defense was on Duncan Keith early and often in the first half of the season. Seabrook kicked off his week with his 5th goal of the year in New York, and added two assists the next night in Jersey, making it three points in three games for #7. Seabrook was a force in his own end as well, racking up 26:03 of ice time in the Blackhawks’ shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks. Seabrook finished the week with a +2 rating, putting him in 2nd place league-wide with a total of +22 on the season. Seabrook’s toughness and shut-down play has been a complement to the entire Blackhawks’ defense, which really shone in Week 14.
