Today, Monday January 27th, 2014, the Chicago Blackhawks finally recalled center, Brandon Pirrifrom the Rockford IceHogs, of the American Hockey League.

This should come as a relief to many Hawks fans who were banging the “Free Pirri” drum, ever since he was sent back down to Rockford, earlier, this season, after a somewhat successful stint, in the NHL, with the Hawks.

Many believe that Pirri could be the long awaited answer to the on going 2nd line center dilemma, as long as he can shore up his defensive responsibilities, because offense and scoring have never been an issue, with Pirri, in the past.

Pirri lead the AHL in points, last season.

In 24 games, with the Hawks, this season, Pirri has put up 6 goals and 5 assists, good for 11 points.

In 16 games, with the IceHogs, this season, Pirri has put up 4 goals and 9 assists, good for 13 points.

It will be interesting to see how he responds, to the call up, but this should be considered a very popular move, amongst Hawks fans.
