The Chicago Blackhawks Fall To San Jose Sharks 2-1.

When people look at the box score of the Blackhawks vs the Sharks game, they are going to see the final score 2-1. The box score tonight does do justice how well both goalies played tonight.  The Blackhawks were coming off a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. While the Sharks had beaten 4-1 by the Calgary Flames in their last game. The theme of tonight was great play by two Stanley Cup winning goalies. Antti Niemi and Corey Crawford both won the Stanley Cup as members of the Blackhawks.

Both goalies were up to the task tonight. The score was 0-0 until midway through the third period. The scoring in tonight’s game took place on a Blackhawks power play early in the third period. Joe Pavelski of the Sharks beat Duncan Keith and Crawford for the goal. Pavelski scored on a sweet move to beat Crawford. The Pavelski goal was his 28th on the season and tied him for third in the NHL. The Blackhawks with one minute remaining on their power played responsed. Brent Seabrook made a difficult keep in the Sharks zone. The puck deflected to Marian Hossa. Hossa found Kris Versteeg on the wing. Versteeg feathered a great pass to Brandon Saad who beat Niemi for the equalizer. This was third goal in two games for Saad.

The third period ended with the scored tied at one. The game went to overtime. The Blackhawks overtime woes continue as neither team scored. The score remained knotted at one. In the shootout, Niemi fared much better that Crawford. Paveliki, Patrick Marleau, and Joe Thornton all scored for the Sharks. Jonathan Toews scored  for the Blackhawks, while Patrick Sharp was denied by Niemi. Thorton beat Crawford on a nifty move to give the Sharks victory. The Sharks defeated the Blackhawks 2-1.
