The 2014 Sochi Games will be the first Olympic Games for the 26 year old Niklas Hjalmarsson. Hjalmarsson has not had much experience with Team competitions only playing for Team Sweden in World Juniors in 2006.
Hjalmarsson has been a solid defenseman for 2 Stanley Cup runs and now he has the honor of locking down Team Sweden’s defense. Hjalmarsson is one of the NHL’s best at blocking shots but it will be interesting to see how willing he will be to block shots in Sochi.
Hjalmarsson probably won’t score any goals but he could pick up some helpers throughout the tournament. That being said Hjalmarsson’s over under is set at 0 goals 3 assists 15 and blocked shots.
