The Olympics are now a distant memory, and the Stadium Series has come and gone although the memories of Saturday night will be with us for quite a while. Now it’s back to the normal schedule with only 20 games left in the season. Well it may not be a total regular week with the NHL trade deadline right ahead of us so things will settle down after March 5th’s afternoon trade deadline.
The first two of this week’s games are at the United Center a place that the Blackhawks haven’t hosted a game since the end of January. The Colorado Avalanche are the first team to arrive at the United Center on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks are 1-1-1 against the Avalanche this season including getting blown out in Colorado and returning the favor when Colorado visited Chicago. The only close game between the two was in January at the United Center when the Blackhawks put 48 shots on Semyon Varlamov but could only manage to get two past him and they ended up losing in overtime. A win here would give just a bit more separation from the Hawks and third place AV’s
The second game of the week comes Thursday night against former divisional rival the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets are now in the East and Viktor Stalberg is now in Nashville so there aren’t too many storylines here. The Blue Jackets are back in their familar place of being just a few points outside of the 8th seed with 20 games left. This is usually a close game but in the end Chicago noramlly comes out on top.
To end the week the Blackhawks travel to the abyss well Buffalo really. The Sabres are on mission re-build and dealt their Captain and all world goalie last week and by the time the Hawks arrive there is no telling who will be left on their roster. Somehow this is a NBCSN game so the nation can hopefully see another large batch of Blackhawks goals to end their weekend!
What game our you looking forward to the most this week?
