Jeremy Morin took the trip back to Rockford the right way and didn’t sulk and his month of February was pretty good. February was so good that he was able to win the AHL player of the month for finishing on a hot streak.
Morin tallied a point in every game of the month ending up with 9 goals and 9 assists with a +10. Morin has played in 43 games in Rockford this season and has picked up 21 goals and 22 assists, but as great of a season that Morin is having in Rockford this cannot be where he expected to play this season.
Morin must have thought for sure he would be a part of this season’s Blackhawks team. He has appeared in 15 games picking up 1 goal and 4 assists, but some of those 15 games he was sitting a lot of the game while Patrick Kane was double shifting for Morin.
The question now with just a day and a half before the trade deadline is whether Morin will be called up to replace the injured Marian Hossa or will he be the next AHL veteran from Rockford to find his name being listed in a trade. Morin is a very offensive player with some grit and not afraid to throw his body around. Morin like Brandon Pirri can struggle playing the 200 foot game especially the defensive end.
Morin deserves a real shot at a third or fourth line spot but this probably won’t happen with Quenneville at the helm so the likehood of him getting moved or staying in Rockford are more likely than seeing him in Chicago anytime soon.
What do you think? Do you think Morin should be in Chicago?
