Second Star: Andrew Shaw

The Blackhawks were forced to put Andrew Shaw a little higher on the depth chart with Marian Hossa‘s recent injury, but since then, they haven’t looked back. Shaw had two goals in the ‘Hawks win over Columbus, and added an assist on Sunday against the Sabres for a three-point week. Shaw has found instant chemistry playing on the wing of the Blackhawks’ top line, but has still managed to retain his gritty style of play with the added offense. Shaw’s increased production has him playing the most minutes in a game since the ‘Hawks loss to Winnipeg back in late January. His offense gives Blackhawks’ fans hope that we may see #65 paired with Patrick Kane on the second line in the playoffs, fixing a long-broken problem in the lineup.

Interesting fact: Sunday’s game against Columbus was the first time all season that Shaw did not take a faceoff in a game.
