Teuvo Teravainen is now officially a Chicago Blackhawks with the Patrick Kane move to LTIR Friday morning. Teravainen will be announced this morning and when he does he will be wearing #86. Jersey numbers are always a curious thing so it will be interesting if this is the last stop in the Teravainen jersey number trail. Tereavainen did wear #23 in the preseason but Kris Versteeg already claimed that one when he was traded back to Chicago, and Teuvo wore #10 in the World Juniors for Team Finland but we all know that is Patrick Sharp’s number.
Jersey numbers aside Teuvo is finally here after what seems weeks and months of talks about the Chicago Blackhawks top prospect. The feeling is the excitement for an arrival of a player hasn’t been this high in Chicago since Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane arrived except for the fact the Blackhawks were garbage back then and there were absolutely no kind of expectations when they first stepped on to the ice except to turn the Hawks organization in the right direction.
The excitement for Teuvo will go along side expectations that the Blackhawks finally have the #2 center that we have been looking for since what seems the beginning of time but really since the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Teuvo Watch is now finally complete and it’s Teuvo Time. Of course we probably won’t see him on the ice tonight against the Carolina Hurricane due to flying half way across the planet yesterday so jet lag will probably be an issue, but when we see him in the skybox tonight it will be exciting to see the future no matter what your expectation is of Teuvo!
Happy Teuvo Day!
How excited are you that Teuvo is finally on the roster?
