Teuvo had arrived in Chicago on Thursday March 20th. Since the 20th, Blackhawks fans have been waiting for Teuvo Teravainen to take the ice. Well the wait was over last night, Teuvo Teravainen made his long anticipated debut for the Blackhawks. When he took the ice for his first shift, Blackhawks started to cheer. When Teravainen entered the faceoff circle for the first time the United Center faithful roared for Teravainen.
Now the HYPE surrounding Teravainen has been over the top but the enthusiasm is justified. Teravainen was solid in her first game with the Blackhawks. He had a nifty one timer that nearly resulted in a goal from David Rundblad. He made a nice play to save a great scoring chance for the Stars and then hit Brandon Saad with a pass to start the Blackhawks rush. He also spent some time on first team power play unit making a nice pass to Patrick Sharp for a quality scoring chance.
Coach Queneville had this to say about Teravainen, “ I liked him. I thought his awareness around the rink, both sides of the puck, and in the faceoff circle was very strong, very good. He did a nice job, Good start”. Quote courtesy of the Chicago Sun Times.
By the numbers Teravainen had zero goals, zero assists, zero points, in eleven minutes and thirty nine seconds of ice time. Of that 11:39, he spent 1:29 on the power play. The Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2 in regulation time.
With all of that being said, Teravainen debut should be viewed a success, however I will pose the question to you:
The Blackhawks will return to the site of their most recent Stanley Cup victory. They will take on the Boston Bruins Thursdayat 6:00pm central time.
