Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks had a record-setting season for their franchise and remained one of the top teams in the league throughout the season. They trail the President Trophy winning Boston Bruins by just 1 point with a record of 54-20-8. They were also one of the top teams last season but lost in the first round against the 7th seed Detroit Red Wings. The Ducks are facing the Dallas Stars, and the first round is far from a shoe-in.  They won the first of 3 games against the Stars by a score of 6-3 but lost the next two meetings. With last season’s first round exit and  the brief history between the two teams in the regular season, the Ducks will  make sure to mind the details and take the first two games at home and start off the playoffs strong.

Leading Scorer: Ryan Getzlaf, 31G 56A – 87 points

Backstop: Jonas Hiller (questionable) 29-13-7-5, 2.48 GAA, .911 SV%

Regular Season Record Against Blackhawks: 1-2-0

Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars were never one of the top teams in the league and only made it to the playoffs in the last two days of the season. They nabbed the second Wild Card seed in the Western Conference with a record of 40-31-11 and have the fewest points of any team to make the playoffs this season. This is the Stars’ first trip to the playoffs in 6 years, and their trade with Boston for Tyler Seguin appears to have paid off in just a year or two. Seguin and Stars captain Jamie Benn have over 30 goals and 45 assists each on the season. The Stars will look to make a dent in the playoffs and have the regular season matchups against  the Ducks to give them confidence. Dallas took 2 of 3 games against Anaheim by a score of 6-3 and 2-0.

Leading Scorer: Tyler Seguin, 37G, 47A – 84 points

Backstop: Kari Lehtonen 33-20-10-5, 2.41 GAA, .919 SV%

Regular Season Record Against Hawks: 1-3-1

Prediction Sure to Go Wrong: Anaheim wins in overtime of Game 6.
