84 Days Until The Blackhawks Season Opener

We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Faceoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Blackhawks  October 9th season opener against the Dallas Stars.

We are past the midway point in the 80’s and we reach a couple of numbers that have never been worn in Chicago Blackhawks history starting with 84.  It’s still July so October seems like a lifetime away but before you know it we will be in September and in the middle of Training Camp. Today we are looking at Blackhawks short handed goals all-time in the regular season and post-season.

Regular Season Short Handed Goals

  1. Dirk Graham-26
  2. Tony Amonte-20
  3. Steve Larmer-19
  4. Jeremy Roenick-19
  5. Troy Murray-17
  6. Patrick Sharp-16
  7. Denis Savard-15
  8. Rick Paterson-14
  9. Steve Sullivan-13
  10. Marian Hossa-13

Post Season Short Handed Goals

  1. Wayne Presley-4
  2. Dave Bolland-3
  3. Rick Paterson-3
  4. Denis Savard-2
  5. Steve Larmer-2
  6. Doug Wilson-2
  7. Tony Amonte-2
  8. Jonathan Toews-2
  9. Adam Creighton-2
  10. 13 Blackhawks with one posteseason shorty

What name is the biggest surprise? Mine has to be that Wayne Presley leads the postseason list and that Adam Creighton is on the postseason Top 10.

Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Faceoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on October 9th. We’re 84 days from the season opener.  Is it October yet???
