We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Faceoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Blackhawks  October 9th season opener against the Dallas Stars.

We reach #55 which has been worn by a Stanley Cup champion and one of the best scorers in Blackhawks history that had injuries ruin his career.

Eric Daze-90th selection overall 4th round 1993

Games-601

Goals-226

Assists-172

+8

Penalty Minutes-176

Game Winning Goals-34

Hat Tricks-6

Games-37

Game Winning Goals-1

Daze was a runner-up for the Calder trophy in his first season in 1995-96 when he scored 30 times and added 23 assists.  Daze’s career spanned almost the entirety of the Blackhawks Dark Ages. Daze could score but had a hard time staying healthy with only one season where he laced it up all 82 times the Blackhawks took the ice.  Daze is tied with Al Secord, Jeremy Roenick, and Tony Amonte for 6th all-time in Blackhawks Hat tricks so it’s a shame Daze couldn’t stay healthy.

Ben Eager-2008-2011

Games-144

Goals-18

Assists-15

Penalty Minutes-308

Playoffs

Games-35

Goals-2

Assists-3

Stanley Cup-1

Eager was a  fighter/grit/tough guy and there are endless videos of that part of his game, but I remember Eager for two of his very few goals he scored in his career. The first at the 2009 Winter Classic The second of course is his goal in Game #1 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final

Ryan Stanton- 2013 Stanton played in one game without cracking the stat line, Stanton ended up in Vancouver because of one of the few roster screw ups by Stan Bowman.

Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Faceoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on October 9th. We’re 55 days from the season opener.  Is it October yet???
