The calendar has finally turned to September and that means that summer is coming to an end and the Blackhawks season that kicks off on October 9th in Dallas Texas is right around the corner. Unlike August there are Blackhawks events on the calendar so here is a quick refresher on what’s going on in September!

Blackhawks Training Camp-Notre Dame September 19-21

For the second consecutive year the Blackhawks will kick off training camp on the campus of Notre Dame at the Compton Family Ice Center.  Stan Bowman praised the facilities last year when the Hawks visited for the first time and they liked it so much they’re Back!! Blackhawks defenseman prospect Stephen Johns played his home games their last season and will be trying to make the opening night roster.  Here is our Big 5 Questions for the Blackhawks as they head to training camp.

Training Camp Festival- September 22

The Blackhawks annual training camp festival starts at 5pm and the first 12,000 fans that arrive to the United Center get a free Duncan Keith bobblehead.  The Blackhawks practice and scrimmage during the festival, and Blackhawks alumni make special appearances during the festival which make it a fun night for all Blackhawks fans no matter what your age is.

Blackhawks Preseason Opener- September 23 Detroit vs Chicago United Center

The Blackhawks host their old rivals the Detroit Red Wings and all Blackhawks eyes will be on Teuvo Teravainen,  the question is will he be able to do enough to make the Blackhawks roster or will he be in Rockford at the beginning of the season.  It appears that the Red Wings are on a decline so there should be a lot of youth on display wearing white and read at the United Center.

Chicago at Detroit- September 25 Joe Louis Arena

The Blackhawks visit the Joe to complete their home and home preseason schedule.  The Red Wings will be building a new home arena so there won’t be many more trips to the Joe with Red Wings in the Eastern Conference.

New York Rangers Vs Chicago- September 26 United Center

The Finals matchup everyone in Chicago wanted to see in June will be the 2nd preseason game in Chicago.  Brad Richards sees his old teammates before the season even kicks off and someone on Twitter in the 2nd period when the Hawks are up 3-1 will tweet out We would have swept the Rangers in the Finals!

Chicago Vs Edmonton-September 28 Saskatoon

The Blackhawks visit the Oilers in a city that was rumored to be a possible expansion city in Canada but then Las Vegas had to go and steal it’s magic.  The Hawks have played here before in the preseason a few years back so this will not be total uncharted territory.

More from Blackhawks News

The Blackhawks still have to make at least one more trade to get below the salary cap number so there could be one more item on the Blackhawks September Calendar of Events.

Which event are you looking forward to the most?
