After meeting last Wednesday at the disgusting Joe Louis Arena, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings will be back in action at the United Center on Sunday afternoon. In their last meeting the Blackhawks put the Red Wings in their back pocket as they walked into the Joe and won 5-2. In the game, the ‘Hawks had production from Brent Seabrook, two goals from Artemi Panarin and one goal from Patrick Kane. Corey Crawford also had a fantastic night. Let’s get into this last meting of the year between these two teams.

The Red Wings have not been in action since that win, so the loss on Wednesday has been sitting with them since. Like I said in my preview for the game on Wednesday, the dead wings are not a very good team this year. They have an aging core of players and they only have a playoff spot because of the eastern conference not being very good — except for the top four teams of course. Pavel Datsyuk is 37 and is fourth on the team in points. Henrik Zetterberg is 35 and leads the team in points. The top defenseman on the Wings, Niklas Kronwall, is 35. The Red Wings do have a couple good prospects coming up in the system, but this team is just very average and old. Plus, they are not very good against the top teams in the league.

The player spotlight for this game on the Wings is Tomas Tatar. The second line left winger is 25 and has 37 point on the season — 17 goals and 20 assists. In terms of possession Tatar has a stellar 57% in corsi. In case you are not very familiar with corsi, right around 52% is average. 57% is amazing for Tatar. As of late, he is very very hot. Against the ‘Hawks Wednesday night, Tatar had an assist. In his past three games, Tatar has four points on three assists. He is a really good forward that is a nice player for the Wings to have. He is also the hottest player on the Wings roster right now, and the ‘Hawks need to keep an eye on him.

As for the ‘Hawks, they are coming off of a bad loss against the Boston Bruins. They lost 4-2, but take it how you want considering this game was the second of a back to back. In the game Andrew Ladd had an assists on the Jonathon Toews goal. There has been no transition time for Ladd as he has been firing on all cylinders with the first line. It is actually crazy how good hes been playing with the ‘Hawks since he got here.

Speaking of players who have just come to the ‘Hawks, Christian Ehrhoff is showing to be a good addition to this team. He had a great game against the Wings last Wednesday and got on the scorecard Thursday night with an assist. He has had seven shots over the last two games he has played with the ‘Hawks. This could turn out to be a huge pickup for this defense that was in desperate need for some talent. Hopefully he continues to get pucks to the net and keep up his possession numbers.

The puck drops at 4 o’clock and can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet in Chicago and 720 WGN in the car. That is all I have for you on this game so until next time, DETROIT SUCKS!
