The Chicago Blackhawks take on the St. Louis Blues as the top 2 teams in the Central Division battle in St. Louis.

The Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues play tonight, and after having the Detroit Red Wings out of the Central Division for a few years now, this has become the biggest rival for the Hawks.

Of course, the Hawks beating the Blues in 2014 in 6 games which featured this great overtime goal by

Jonathan Toews

made the rivalry stronger.

That’s one of my favorite calls by Pat Foley so I like to sneak it in any post when possible.

But I really think this has become a renewed rivalry after the Blues knocked out the Chicago Blackhawks in 7 games last spring in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  After the series Jonathan Toews said something I believe all Chicago Blackhawks fans were thinking at the time which was at no point in the series until the final horn sounded did we believe the Hawks were actually going to lose to the Blues in that series.

The silver lining of the Hawks losing last year was the rest and relaxation some of the core got from sitting out most of the playoffs instead of grinding through 20 plus more games.  The biggest beneficiary of the extra time off has to be Marian Hossa.

#81 looks to be much younger than he has appeared in the past few seasons, and his totals prove it with him leading the Chicago Blackhawks in goal with 16 after only scoring 13 all of last season.

The other silver lining for the Hawks has been injuries have given the youth of the team extra time on the ice, and they seem to be on the cusp of breaking out. Ryan Hartman looks pretty comfortable on the top line, while Tyler Motte and Vinnie Hinostroza look like they are ready to start tallying up some goals and points real soon.

The other player that has played great in spite of injury has been Scott Darling.  Granted the last game against the Islanders wasn’t his best, but he gave up one less goal than his opponent which is all that matters.  Here is the listings for tonight’s game!
