Chicago Blackhawks Offense Is On Fire

The Chicago Blackhawks offense has been on fire in February, and that’s the reason they have been back to their winning ways.

The Chicago Blackhawks were averaging less than 3 goals a game before the calendar turned to February, and then all of a sudden my favorite version of the Chicago Blackhawks showed up for the 2016-2017 season.

The offense was very sporadic in the first four months of the season, with the Hawks able to score 4 or 5 goals or getting shut out depending on how different things materialized from the opposing goalie to how the 2nd line played.

Then in February, Joel Quenneville found some lines that started clicking, and Jonathan Toews offense starting coming around at the same time. Coach Q putting Nick Schmaltz on the top line after his return from Rockford with Toews and Richard Panik has been pure gold. The skill level and danger level with this line has done wonders for all 4 lines.

The Chicago Blackhawks rolling four lines really hasn’t happened since 2013’s team, even in the 2015 run the Hawks were three lines with 2 defensive pairings. So, seeing Coach Q trusting four lines is refreshing, and you can thank that to the Toews line picking up a lot of momentum. Toews and Panik are on 5 game point streaks entering tonight’s game while Schmaltz is on a 3 game point streak.

If you look at the Hawks scoring they have scored 4 or more goals in every game in February except for the Edmonton loss following the Chicago Blackhawks bye week which they had still out shot the Oilers that night by a large margin.
