The Chicago Blackhawks will lace up the skates three times this week in what should be a pretty exciting week of action.  We will take a look at what to expect from this week’s games.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be able to get some practice time in as they have some extended time off while playing 3 games in 4 nights this week.

The Hawks first game of the week isn’t until Wednesday, but I’m sure it will be billed by the NBCSN as a possible Stanley Cup Final matchup when the Pittsburgh Penguins AKA Defending Stanley Cup Champions visit the United Center to face our Chicago Blackhawks.

The Penguins are in the ridiculously stacked Metropolitan Division that is the only one with 4 teams with a plus goal differential.  The Penguins are in 2nd place trailing the Washington Capitals by 5 points, and they are led by Sidney Crosby who is shooting for another Hart Trophy even though it’s probably Connor McDavid‘s right now.

This should be a fun matchup against two teams that want to add trophies and aren’t worried about where they finish the regular season.

The second team to visit the United Center this week will be the New York Islanders, and as I write this they sit one game outside of the final Wild Card spot.

In the past two years, the Blackhawks and Islanders matchups have been fun to watch with both teams trying to make the contest a track meet while not really clogging up the middle of the ice.  The Hawks will have to contain John Tavares who is having another solid season with 23 goals and 52 points.

The Final Matchup of the week is against the Nashville Predators in Nashville so get ready for a lot of the Keep out the red talk before the game, but it’s been the Predators play on the ice that is the talk right now.

Many experts had the Predators winning the Central Division before the season began, but they weren’t very good until recently.  Now they hold the third spot in the Central division down with a possible matchup against the Hawks in the first round of the playoffs totally possible.

Another fun night of hockey from Bridgestone Arena will be on the slate Saturday night.
