Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The NHL playoffs on Monday brought back a big discussion early in the year when Corey Crawford was hit and staggered by a shot to the head and that is the concussion word.

Of course Monday night’s issue wasn’t concussion protocol like the Corey Crawford play, but it was the issue of the NHL’s biggest star having to leave a playoff game because of a concussion.

The story coming out of Pittsburgh was that the Washington Capitals had basically put a bounty on Crosby which if you watched the play would be hard to say unless your a Penguins fan.

Of course Alex Ovechkin did slash Crosby on the head before he stumbled into Matt Niskanen.  Niskanen did get his hands up, but he didn’t put his hands in a normal cross check position which means it didn’t look like a malice hit in my eyes.

The conspiracy theory is out there by many writers that the Washington Capitals were out to get the Penguins star out of the series so there’s that to spice up the series.

Concussion are the biggest worry for all sports commissioners, owners, and players moving forward so the question is how do we make games safer without changing the integrity of the game.

Hopefully Sidney Crosby is back on the ice sooner than later for the betterment of the NHL, the Stanley Cup playoffs, and most of all the long term health of Crosby.
