Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The Chicago Blackhawks have a brand new defense, and now the Blackhawks defense is allowing more shots on goal than anyone else in the NHL.

Even when the Chicago Blackhawks were scoring at will in the first couple of games this season, they were allowing a bunch of shots on goal to whomever they were playing.

Now things start getting dicey for the Chicago Blackhawks defense when they are giving up 40 plus shots on goal when their offense isn’t bailing them out.

Case in point, Anton Forsberg has started 2 games for the Chicago Blackhawks, and he’s had to make 40 plus saves in both.  The sad part for the new Blackhawks backup goalie is he’s only gotten overtime losses for his efforts in these games.

It appears that Joel Quenneville doesn’t know what button to push with the defense quite yet.  He’s tried Connor Murphy, Cody Franson and last night Jordan Oesterle as the 6th defenseman.

I know Coach Q is just trying to get some guys some playing time, but you know he’s trying to figure out the Hawks defense while he’s tinkering.  All of the defenseman have attributes you like and dislike, and it’s a shame you can’t combine them into one great defenseman.

The thing is with Brent Seabrook slowing down, one of these defenseman has to speed up the development part of grasping the Hawks defense so that the Blackhawks goalies aren’t facing 40 plus shots a game!
