The Chicago Blackhawks head to the desert tonight to begin their first of two trips this season that being in Arizona to play the Coyotes before heading to Sin City to faceoff against the upstart Vegas Golden Knights.

The storyline for tonight will be simple at least at the very beginning of the game. It’s the first time since the big trade that the Chicago Blackhawks will be facing Niklas Hjalmarsson in a Coyotes uniform.

This will be bittersweet for most of us since well you already know that Hjalmarsson only won 3 Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks before being a salary cap casualty this summer.  The trade was supposed to help both teams, but Connor Murphy hasn’t quite settled in yet with the Blackhawks.

The Coyotes are 0-6-1 on the young season, so it will be imperative for the Chicago Blackhawks to jump on them early and often so they don’t feel like this will be their first victory of the season.

Everyone expected when Nick Schmaltz jumped back in the lineup that the offense would explode, but that hasn’t quite transpired yet.  The problem lately has been the Hawks getting routinely out shot on a nightly basis, so this would be a good night to change that pattern.

One player I’m starting to get concerned about is Artem Anisimov.  He looks incredibly slow to me, and without Artemi Panarin and Patrick Kane on his wings looks very pedestrian. Anisimov has been dropped all the way to the bottom line with Lance Bouma and John Hayden for a very big slow footed 4th line that will need to hit to be productive.

It’s the Hawks and Coyotes from Arizona tonight, and here are the listings for the game!

On to the predictions part of the program, and we did predict a Blackhawks 4-2 loss to the Oilers so picking up a point isn’t a bad thing but it sure wasn’t a close prediction.

The Hawks will come out flying tonight, and attack early and often and will skate away with a 5-1 win in Arizona with Patrick Sharp picking up his second goal of the season.
