<p>On this date in Chicago Blackhawks history,</p>
<p>On May 7, 2010 in Vancouver the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 to take a commanding 3-1 series lead back to Chicago.  The star of the contest was <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/t/toewsjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Jonathan Toews</a></strong> who filled up the stat sheet including a playoff hat trick which made it two straight hat tricks for the Hawks in this series with <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/byfugdu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Dustin Byfuglien</a></strong> collecting a hat trick two days earlier. The Blackhawks hadn&#8217;t had a road hat trick since 1972 when <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/h/hullbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Bobby Hull</a></strong> collected three goals, and  then Buff and Toews did it on consecutive nights.</p>
<p>The Captain had three goals and 2 assists and his 5 point game matched the Hawks record held by <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/m/mikitst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Stan Mikita</a></strong> (73) and <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/l/larmest01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Steve Larmer</a></strong> (90).  The Captain was on his way to winning the Conn Smythe trophy but better yet the Hawks were putting a major league beat down on the Canucks in their building for the second consecutive game.  In all the Hawks would win three games in Vancouver including the series clinching Game 6 which was the half way point on their way to winning the Stanley Cup in 2010.</p>
<p>The Captain&#8217;s only playoff hat trick to date happened on this date three years ago today, and here is the video of the last of his three goals.<object id="embed" width="640" height="383" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashVars" value="hlg=20092010,3,244&amp;event=VAN398&amp;server=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;pageurl=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;nlwa=http://app2.neulion.com/videocenter/nhl/" /><param name="src" value="http://nhl.cdn.neulion.net/u/videocenter-v1/embed.swf" /><param name="pluginspage" value="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="flashvars" value="hlg=20092010,3,244&amp;event=VAN398&amp;server=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;pageurl=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;nlwa=http://app2.neulion.com/videocenter/nhl/" /><embed id="embed" width="640" height="383" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://nhl.cdn.neulion.net/u/videocenter-v1/embed.swf" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" flashVars="hlg=20092010,3,244&amp;event=VAN398&amp;server=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;pageurl=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;nlwa=http://app2.neulion.com/videocenter/nhl/" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" flashvars="hlg=20092010,3,244&amp;event=VAN398&amp;server=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;pageurl=http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/&amp;nlwa=http://app2.neulion.com/videocenter/nhl/" /></object></p>

<p style="text-align: left;">On This Date In Chicago Blackhawks History,</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">On February 27, 2012 The Chicago Blackhawks completed two trades on the traded deadline day.  The biggest move of the day seemed very minor at the time when the Chicago Blackhawks sent 2013 2nd and 3rd round picks to the Winnipeg Jets for Johnny Oduya.  The comment from Blackhawks fans then were that of disappointment that Stan Bowman didn&#8217;t pull of a huge blockbuster trade instead settled to pick up one player at the deadline. Little did everyone know at the time that the Hawks would go on to only lose 2 games in regulation in a calendar year with Oduya settling down the 2nd defensive pairings.   Granted Oduya struggled in the Coyotes series and always seems to make a turnover at a bad time but unlike last post-season <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/c/crawfco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Corey Crawford</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/e/emeryra01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Ray Emery</a></strong> have been able to thwart any goals that Oduya could have created.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The 2nd traded involved the Hawks collecting a 5th round pick in 2012 draft for the departing services of <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/scottjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">John Scott</a></strong>. Scott was the Hawks player that everyone picked on for his lack of talent hockey related.  He was forgotten pretty quickly especially when Coach Q puts <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/bollibr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-blackhawkup.com" target="_blank">Brandon Bollig</a></strong> on the ice.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">A quiet trade that worked out very nicely for the Hawks happened a year ago today!</p>
