Washington Capitals at Chicago Blackhawks
Preseason — 7:30 p.m. CST, Comcast Sports

Watch out, ladies. Alexander Ovechkin is bringing his pre- and post-game sexual routine to Chicago. You can’t call him heartless, though. The guy’s got two of them. Don’t get mad ’cause his sex is on fire. Let’s just hope he doesn’t undress Cristobal Huet.

Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals visit the United Center tonight for the Blackhawks’ first preseason game, giving fans their first taste of what the 2009-10 version of the ‘Hawks has to offer. With the team pretty much set and this game being overall meaningless, I’m not going to go into much detail with a preview. I’m just happy hockey season is officially back in Chicago.

Second City Hockey is doing a hell of a job keeping up with the roster cuts, and it notes the early demotion of Akim Ali to Rockford was a bit of a surprise. But as the Daily Herald’s Tim Sassone reports, neither Ali or first-round draft pick Kyle Beach have been very impressive in camp.

Antti Niemi and Corey Crawford are fighting hard for the backup goalie spot, each proving their worth in camp. It’s going to come down to whoever performs better in game situations, and that begins tonight. This battle may last throughout the entire preseason, and both men should make the trip to Sweden for the two preseason games overseas.

I’m excited to finally see John Madden and Tomas Kopecky wearing indian-head sweaters as they each make their Blackhawks debuts.

The offseason drama is officially behind us. It’s finally time to drop the puck.
