Blackhawk Link-Up: Maybe Toews IS a slow starter

By Jeffrey Bartl

Blackhawk Link-Up will recap each Chicago Blackhawks game with links from around the Blackhawks blogsphere and views from the opposition’s coverage. Look for it the morning after each Blackhawks game.

Around the ‘Hawks blogsphere:

  • A great observation I hadn’t even noticed because of the overall dominance during the weekend: Jonathan Toews failed to notch a point. (Fifth Feather)
  • Mike Kiley writes: “Cristobal Huet need not worry that his status as the Blackhawks’ starting goaltender is in jeopardy.  However, Niemi’s effort against the Panthers provides insurance for the Hawks should Huet falter in the future.” (Blackhawks Confidential)
  • The only thing uglier than Sarah Jessica Parker in HD? Brent Sopel in HD. (Hockee Night)
  • Despite the shutout, Niemi isn’t your player of the game. But Patrick Kane isn’t either. (Second City Hockey)
  • The Tribune’s Chris Kuc writes a good entry on why Huet will be the one to bring the Blackhawks to prominence and why Coach Q‘s lines are solid. (Icing)

Kittens are a little more tame today:

  • Frank Rekas doesn’t have any exclamation points in his post this time. “From shootout to shutout.” (The Rat Trick)
  • Were the Panthers thinking, “All right, we got two points, let’s go home?” (The Litter Box)
  • Well, I guess I can’t blame Panthers fans for attempting to cling to the “glory years” of Pavel Bure and John Vanbiesbrouck. (On Frozen Pond)
