Damnit: Bolland, Eager out; Brouwer GTD vs. Wings

The Tribune’s Chris Kuc and Daily Herald’s Tim Sassone are reporting Dave Bolland and Ben Eager are out with injuries, and Troy Brouwer is a game-time decision for Thursday’s game vs. The Communists.

While the Eager and Brouwer injury holdouts seem to be more early-season precaution, Bolland’s back injury could continue to pose a problem if it persists.

Coach Q’s practice lines looked like this, according to Kuc:

Versteeg-Toews-Sharp

Byfuglien-Madden-Kane

Ladd-Kopecky-Smolenak

Johnson-Fraser-Hendry

Yep, two defensemen moving to forward to fill fourth-line spots. Remember that depth at forward for the Blackhawks the hockey world was talking about? They’ll head into Detroit on Thursday with Marian Hossa, Adam Burish, Bolland, Eager and possibly Brouwer all out.

Quickly, the Stanley Cup contenders are falling like dominoes and the hockey gods keep farting in our dinner. At least with serious injuries like Hossa and Burish, the planning is already set knowing they’re out. But if the Bolland, Eager and Brouwer injuries nag and linger, things get unpredictable from game to game.

I’ll have a more detailed preview up later for tomorrow’s game against the Cocksuckers.
