The Daily Phil Esposito (1/6/11)

By Unknown author

There were nine former feather-heads to take the ice last night. All the scored came from Laddy… which was two assists. Couple other notes in there, as well as a little rant on the hawks game from last night… I have been pretty cool about them all season, but last nights game really got under my skin and ticked me off… Hope that the Espo lightens your mood. Also thank you to all those who have emailed me with the kind words and get well wishes. I am doing great and I am very glad that you enjoy the daily post.

Tuomo Ruutu – Carolina
17:54 TOI, plus one, one shot, 1 of 8 on face-offs

Sergei Samsonov – Carolina
6:24 TOI

Craig Adams – Pittsburgh
12:11 TOI, minus one, two shots, 1 of 3 on face-offs
Funny thing about Adams having a rating of minus one… The Penguins beat the Lightning 8-1, meaning Adams wasn’t on the ice for any of the 8 goals by the Pens, but on the ice for the one goal by the Bolts… Also Crosby only had one point in this game which saw different players step up and score. I guess the Winter Classic was a big wake up call for this team.

Dustin Byfuglien – Atlanta
23:17 TOI, minus one, five shots

Andrew Ladd – Atlanta
20:20 TOI, two assists (20,21), plus two, one shot, 1 on 1 in face-offs
With his second assist of the night, Andrew Ladd’s 21st assist tied the same amount of assists he had last season as a Hawk in 82 games last season. It only took him 42 games to get to that point this year. I will say again how much I miss this guy on the Hawks, and I am glad he is having success.

Brent Sopel – Atlanta
14:36 TOI

Ben Eager – Atlanta
Placed on Injured Reserve before the game with a “lower-body” injury, and has missed the last four games.

J.P. Dumont – Nashville
10:39 TOI, two shots

Rene Bourque
Calgary19:40 TOI, two shots
Vancouver defeated Calgary 3-1 to win its 7th straight game… They are on a roll.

Adam Burish – Dallas
16:58 TOI, 1 of 5 on face-offs
I am very ticked off about this game. The Hawks gave this game away. They had all the momentum… For the first time I was upset with Coach Q’s decision. I wouldn’t have pulled Crawford until one minute left in the period. I’ll leave the ranting to Bartl.
