Jonathan Toews has proven that he is the best player on the Blackhawks and worthy of the C on his sweater.  Toews brings so much more to a team than what shows up on a stats sheet.  He cut from the same cloth as Michael Jordan.  He has such a competitive drive and flat out refuses to accept failure.  This attitude can be his worst enemy too, as he showed this year.  His competitive spirit made him play after suffering a concussion which proved to be a big mistake.  He might not have had to miss the season’s final 22 games had he sat out right away.  I am sure this is a mistake he will not repeat.  Had he not missed the final quarter of the season, Tazer was well on his way to setting career highs in goals, assists and points.  Even with all the game missed Toews was still tied for second in goals with 29.  His 65% success rate at the faceoff dot was one of the best in the league.  Tazer was one of the few Hawks to show up in the playoffs versus the Coyotes.  Hopefully Toews will not have a long term effect from the concussion, but it will have to be something to be monitored going foward.

2011-2012 Final Grade: B+
