Contract Status:  signed through 2013-2014 ($2.3 million per year)

Michael Frolik has been a major disappointment during the regular season since he arrived in Chicago.  He has only 9 goals in 91 regular season games with the Blackhawks.  That is not good coming from a guy who scored 42 goals in his first two seasons with the Florida Panthers.  To his credit, he does show up in the post season.  He has 8 points (4 G, 4 A) in 11 playoff games with the Hawks.  He was inserted into lineup in Game 3, due to the Andrew Shaw suspension, after being a healthy scratch in the first two games.  I thought he should have been in at the start of the series despite the dreadful offensive numbers in the regular season.  To Frolik’s credit, he does bring a lot to the team defensively.  He was one of the best penalty killers on the team all season long.  The problem is, the Blackhawks did not give Frolik a 3 year, 7 million dollar contract to be a penalty killer.  The Hawks resigned him to add to the team’s scoring depth and that never happened.  I predict Frolik will be moved on draft night next week to clear some cap space.  Do not expect much in return for his services.
