The Chicago Blackhawks announced today their annual Training Camp Fest, scheduled for Saturday September 22nd, has sold out. This still blows my mind. I think back to some games I was at in the early to mid 2000’s when you could have an entire row, if not section at the United Center to yourself. Back in the days when Tyler Arnason, Jim Dowd, Sergei Berezin and Jim Vandermeer were taking shifts for the Blackhawks you had your own personal beer vendor who would sit and watch half the game with you. What a difference a few years, some star power and a Stanley Cup makes. Now the Blackhawks will have over 21,000 fans in attendance to watch the first practice of training camp. I never thought I would see that back when I was telling Steve Passmore how much I thought he sucked. I will be at the Training Camp Fest for the 3rd straight year. It is a lot of fun and is a perfect event for large families considering it is only $5 per ticket. It is a great way to get an up close and personal look at the new Blackhawks (if we had any), your favorite stars and future prospects. You can’t leave the United Center after Training Camp Fest without being pumped up for the upcoming season.
