Yes, it isn’t the NHL its the AHL, and yes it isn’t the regular season, it’s the AHL pre-season but something positive on the ice is happening in Rockford.  The line of Jimmy Hayes, Marcus Kruger, and Brandon Saad seem to be clicking just north of Chicago. In their final of three pre-season games the IceHogs won 5-3 and the Kruger line scored 4 of the 5 goals and collected 3 assists.  I understand that the line beat the Peoria Riverman and not the Vancouver Canucks, but maybe this is a line of the future when and if the NHL season ever begins.

The Rockford regular season begins this Saturday night in Chicago (Rosemont)  against the Wolves.  It’s pretty sad that the NHL is locked out and the AHL will be the only hockey show to see, but at least the rosters are full of young exciting players!

The good sign for the AHL is that more and more NHL players are making European plans so the AHL should break attendence records while Donald Fehr eats the NHL pie!  Enjoy the young Hawks and future stars especially Brandan Saad!

End the Lockout!!
