When it was announced that during the lockout all of the young Blackhawks were going to Rockford to play, there were a lot of maybe unrealistic expectations I had for the IceHogs.  I envisioned Brandon Saad with hat tricks nightly, Andrew Shaw doing something extraordinary nightly so that Rockford people would restart Shaw Facts, and Carter Hutton would be pitching shut outs routinely.

I guess it is safe to say that the expectations were just a bit exaggerated.  The Hogs are safe to say off to a slow start in beginning the season 0-2-1 and scoring only 4 goals in three games.  Last night they led briefly 1-0 in the 2nd period until giving up two goals in the period and losing the game.

By most reports Hutton has played will including a shut out opening night before getting beat badly in the shoot-out.  It is still very early and I’m sure it will take a while maybe longer than most Blackhawk fans thought for the Hogs to become a well oiled machine. As most pro seasons there is always another game beginning tonight at their home opener against Charlotte tonight and they play Charlotte tomorrow night also.

It is time for Saad and Shaw to step up and fill out the score sheet! Hopefully, some home cooking and home ice will turn around the young Blackhawks fortunes!!

Let’s Go Hawks/Hogs!!
