I’m sure that the NHL had this planned well before the lockout so it’s very ironic that the Try Hockey For Free Day would be right in the middle of the NHL Lockout.  Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr are destroying what was gained since the last lockout and that’s a huge new young fan base that comes out night after night to see teams like the Chicago Blackhawks play.

Things like the Hawks Convention are not sold out with old school hockey fans, but they are filled with young fans that are excited to see their favorite players.  It’s hard to continue the momentum of the past few seasons in the NHL with no games being played or being watched in person or on TV.  If the lockout continues until the Winter Classic is cancelled that could be the final nail in the coffin of the 2012-2013 season.

Anyways tomorrow is a cool event to get kids ages 4-9 out on the ice for free.  Click here for the link to get information for the free event and the nearest ice rink near you.  While working at an ice rink throughout high school it’s always fun to watch kids get on the ice for the first time! Take advantage of the best price anywhere….FREE!

Maybe seeing the turnout tomorrow Fehr, Bettman and Friends will decide to get back to the table and get NHL hockey players back on the ice granted seeing them on the ice is almost never free.
