The latest publicised future of the franchise finally broke through last night for the Rockford Ice Hogs.  Brandon Saad finally found the back of the net on a breakaway for his first professional goal last night in a losing effort against the Grand Rapids Griffins.  Saad had been battling injury and was off to a start no one had expected by not getting his name in the goal column.  He finally broke through and now maybe we will see the point totals accumulate like the ones he collected last season for the Saginaw Spirit organization.  There are some very lofty expectations on Saad so him having a good season in Rockford during the lockout would be appreciated by the upper brass of the Blackhawks organization.

The star of the game was Jimmy Hayes who had a 3 point night including a short handed goal that was created by Kyle Beach’s major penalty.  It was Hayes 4th goal of the season. Hayes also had the assist on Saad’s breakaway. Hayes is currently the third leading scorer on the IceHogs trailing only Brandon Pirri and Marcus Kruger.

The IceHogs are currently in 3rd place in their division trailing the first place Chicago Wolves by 4 points.  They are back on the ice tonight in Rockford against the Milwaukee Admirals.

End The Lockout!!
