The CBA has finally been ratified and there will be NHL hockey in less than a week! If you want to see the entire 48 game Blackhawks schedule click this here.
The motto for every team will be get off to a fast start, but all it takes is a quick look at the schedule and you will be able to see that if the Hawks are going to get off to a fast start it will because they are road warriors. Ten out of their first twelve games will be away from the United Center including opening day against Mr. Quick and the defending Stanley Cup champions LA Kings.
If the Hawks can survive that they do get a 6 game home stand. The schedule almost looks like a baseball schedule with extended hometands and long road trips. The Blackhawks season went off track last season during their longest road trip in 20 years which included in part their 9 game losing streak. With only a 48 game schedule they will not have the luxury of getting away with any kind of long losing streak this season.
All 48 games will be against Western Conference opponents which the Hawks were very successful at beating last season going 33-23-8. The Hawks were also very good within the Central Division going 16-6-2. The Blackhawks long awaited home opener will be Tuesday Jan 22 against the St Louis Blues. The key to this season is will the long opening road trip be a bonding time for the team to rally around or cement shoes that sink the season.
What do you think? Will the 10 out of 12 road games to start the season be a blessing in disguise or seal the fate of the season right out of the box?
LET’S GO HAWKS!
