By Jeremy Pohl

The story of today’s Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings game was the Kings first Stanley Cup, but the Blackhawks broke in to spoil the day with their 5-2 victory.

Marian Hossa controlled the Blackhawks scoring with 3 points today, 2 goals, and 1 assist showing he was back from that crushing concussion in game three of the playoffs last year.

Along with Hossa, Jonathan Toews, despite being questionable last night with the flu, came through as the Captain had a goal along with an assist. Patrick Kane capitalized on a 5-3 power play and scored a first period goal, also assisting on Toews second period goal. Frolik also scored in the first from Kruger, and Leddy.

The Hawks showed energy, and urgency to get back on the ice today, leaving the first period with a 3-0 lead. On all phases of the game the Blackhawks played strong, scoring on the power play, and killing all 5 penalties.

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford stopped 19 of 21 shots finishing with. .905 save percentage. The Los Angeles kings Jonathan Quick finished with a .773 save percentage facing 22 shots, but only stopping 17.

The Blackhawks face off against the Phoenix Coyotes Sunday night. This is a rematch of round 1 in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The puck drops at 9 p.m. in Phoenix.
