For the first time in franchise history, the Chicago Blackhawks started off the season with a 6-0-0 record. No Blackhawks team has ever experienced such a great start and no Blackhawks fans have ever celebrated such a great start.
The season is only six games old, a grand total of 10 days in session, so fans are being warned not to get too excited. Things could change in the next game. The perfect record could stop there, the winning streak could break, they could start a losing streak, they could completely miss the playoffs! So don’t get too excited.
But the Blackhawks don’t play again until Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild. So, let’s review.
They had a severely injured player in Marian Hossa come back with one of his best career starts ever. Our captain, Jonathan Toews, recovered from a head injury to be the same face-off dominant, serious leader that we all know and love. Last year’s disappointing star, Patrick Kane, came back from Switzerland and fought his trade-supporters with a vengeance. Even our starting goalie, Corey Crawford, who bore the brunt of Blackhawks fans’ frustrations last year, was named the NHL’s second star of the week!
And we’re supposed to be cautious? We’re supposed to contain our excitement? We’re not supposed to get our hopes up just yet? We need to wait longer before we brag about our team?
Yeah, right. We’ve got at least one more day of this. Maybe more. Maybe an entire season. Maybe a whole year!
Let’s say it again: the Blackhawks are 6-0-0! All of their big stars are back! Their goaltending is great! Their future is ridiculously fantastic right now!
Let’s wear our Blackhawks jerseys proudly and brag about our team. Because they’re awesome.
How do you feel about the Blackhawks great start to the season?
