On this date in Chicago Blackhawks history,
On January 31, 1963 the two greatest Chicago Blackhawks scorers of all time both collected hat tricks in the same game against the Boston Bruins. Stan Mikita had 16 career hat tricks in his great Chicago Blackhawks career and the Golden Jet Bobby Hull had 28 hat tricks in his great Blackhawks career, but on this date in 1963 they both had hat tricks in the same game in the 9-2 victory in the Boston Garden.
It’s kind of ironic that in the season that both Hawks greats had a hat trick in the same game that during the same season both players ended up leading the team in goals with 31. The Hawks finished 2nd in the NHL in 1963 but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Detroit Red Wings.
